Kobe-HAT

Sorry, I know this is a little silly, but I have these pictures of this one slightly and relatively picturesque train stop in Kobe, so you're seeing them....and you're going to love'm.

This is a picture from a bridge overlooking the main road. There's a museum of art, the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, as well as WHO, and Hyogo Prefecture International Center.

This is the bridge.....I know you're getting more and more excited.....

We did buy some really good fresh strawberries under this bridge, later....

Now, behind those buildings, is the harbor. This is an area that might have grass in the summer(?). On the right, there's this strange concrete wall. There's several....they enclose a tree garden of sorts.
This is the Earthquake Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution. It's a pretty neat-looking building. We haven't toured it yet, but we hope to, soon. It has the date of the Great Hanshin Awaji on the side...including the time. One of my students recalled her memory of it to me one day. I wasn't sure whether I should've quickly changed the subject or asked the million questions that I was thinking. We have rules, you know, about the appropriacy of talking to the students about things that may cause any feelings other than neutral.

This is the opposite view from the harbor. I'm told that the mountains, which you can see from any part of Kobe are disappearing so quickly by deforestation without any effort to replant. This problem is compounded by the fact that most students--keep in mind that students at Nova must have money, and resources, and some level of education considering what they're charged--that I've asked have no idea of this fact. I guess this is probably a worldwide problem.....I just talk to earth conscious people I think. Hopefully, I'll get some close-ups of these soon on the site.

This is a picture taken from the train station. To the right there's a building that's under construction. This may happen in cities in America, also, but I've never seen it. They cover the building with a netting while under construction.
This is inside Hyogo International Plaza. It's not all that spectacular, but the fire extinguisher was well worth the trip.
